Dai Yi to perform at the Tri-Cities Opera Center, 315 Clinton Street, Binghamton, New York……
Dai Yi is a native of Shanghai , China . She is the recipient of numerous prizes including the first place of the Empire State Competition, the Brakey Scholarship, and the 2009 Henry Kashiwa Award from the Old Forge Arts Center . She has also received the Bailey Memorial Scholarship and Udell’57 Scholarship. Dai Yi received first prize in the Crane Concerto Competition in May of 2010. She has performed in major venues such as the Shanghai Symphony Hall and appears in a nationally broadcast New York Public Television documentary featuring the 2009 Julia Crane International Piano Competition. She will be playing the Chopin concerto No. 1, first movement, with the Crane Symphony Orchestra in February. Dai Yi is a junior Piano Performance major at The Crane School of Music, SUNY Potsdam, where she studies with Dr./Prof. Paul Wyse. As of this posting, Dai Yi’s program would be: Mozart’s Sonata No. 18 in D, K. 576, Bach’s Prelude and Fugue BWV 853 in E-flat minor, Prokofiev’s “Sarcasms” Op. 17, (Intermission) Schumann’s “Abegg” Variations Op. 1, Debussy’s Prelude Book One, No. 10 “La Chatedrale egloutie” and No. 12 “Minstrels”, Liszt’s Transcendental Etude No. 5 “Feus Follets”, and Chopin’s Scherzo No. 4 in E Major.
