When Michael Davidman played for Classical Pianists of the Future on March 25 of 2012, it became evident to us after his long wonderings among the sets at the Opera Center, and completely losing him in the costume building, that he loved opera. Upon learning that Michael is a regular at opera happenings in NYC and semi-regular accompanist and patron at different opera events in the Big Apple, tenor Steve Nanni, (a Board Member of CPOTE), suggested that we create a Gala Fundraiser Program around Michael’s splendid solo piano capabilities, and a selection of opera arias – carefully considered by opera buff Lance G. Hill, Michael, and Stephen, featuring Michael as soloist and accompanist, along with Steven, Mary Burgess, Robert-Heepyoung Oh, Kasey Stewart, and several other outstanding opera performers.
Thus was formed “Opera for Piano and Voice – Transcriptions and Arias“, a first time Fundraiser for CPOTF, that will be performed on Saturday evening, October 12, at 7:30pm, at the United Presbyterian Church (formerly First Presbyterian Church) on 42 Chenango Street, Binghamton, NY. The program will begin at 7:30pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. Seating is open.
The program will consist of Davidman playing various difficult operatic transcriptions, such as Gounod-Liszt “Waltz from Faust, Concert Paraphrase,” S.407, and accompanying the singers in works such as the Rigoletto quartet, the Sextet from Lucia di Lammermoor, and other pieces of highly virtuosic content. A program of this nature has never been performed before in this area and is an event you will not want to miss!
This will be a special event outside of CPOTF’s usual two-concert series. As a fundraiser, ticket prices are $25.00. Children through age 12 are free.
While tickets may be purchased at the door by check or cash, ADVANCED PURCHASE BY CREDIT CARD IS RECOMMENDED. For the first time CPOTF is offering purchase by credit card as a convenience to its patrons. You will receive a receipt and you may PRINT OUT YOUR OWN TICKET.
